CVLD Prosecutor’s Award

The ALOC Award for CVLD Prosecutors will be presented annually to an outstanding CVLD Crown Counsel in recognition of their extraordinary dedication, diligence, and enthusiasm in prosecuting Ministry matters and their exemplary contribution to POA prosecutions. Key characteristics include:

•Dedication to the Role of Crown Counsel as Minister of Justice in the service of the public interest.
•A reputation for fundamental fairness, honesty, and integrity.
•Excelling at mentoring and/or showing an interest in counsel and students by sharing relevant knowledge, experience, and skills.
•Possessing excellent prosecutorial abilities including an exemplary ability to present and manage trial issues.
•Contributing to the enhancement in the quality of life in their respective branch.
•Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
•Any other factor which would exhibit extraordinary “dedication, diligence and enthusiasm”.

Selection
All nominations will be considered by a Selection Committee. The Selection Committee is chaired by the President of ALOC and may consist of:
•An ALOC member chosen by the President of ALOC, who will be currently practicing as a CVLD Prosecutor.
•An ALOC member from the Provincial Offences Act Prosecutor’s Working Group (POAPWG), nominated by the POAPWG.
•The Deputy Attorney General (or a nominee).
•A Judge or Justice of the Peace who was previously employed in the civil service.

Nominations
Nominations should include one letter of nomination plus at least two supporting letters. Other relevant material may also be included. The consent of the nominee to the nomination must be provided.
